Death also came knocking in Torchwood (BBC Two), although as someone rightly asked at the end: did Owen actually beat death or not? The show is both confusing — confessions of love between nervy scientists, murderous alien hands, reincarnation, black dust cloud as the new Grim Reaper — and also deliciously polysexual. Everyone is up for it with everyone else. Torchwood isn't the gayest show on television, as I first thought, but it is the horniest.
