Doctor Who's erstwhile companion, as played by the ageless Elisabeth Sladen, was also on capitalism's case in The Sarah Jane Adventures (BBC One). The investigative reporter wanted answers out of a global corporation that was building foul-smelling, dinner-rotting science labs in the planet's schools. The evil corp was a front for the Slitheen, not a house at Hogwart's but a race of aliens with terrible digestive problems whom we first met on Doctor Who.
In the show's pilot back on New Year's Day, SJS adopted an alien boy with no navel called Luke. He has now recruited to the cause a girl called Maria. The three look a winning team. A better spun Tardis spinoff than Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures should be enough to make Mondays bearable for most 10-year-olds. I was with Luke, however, when he asked a pal why farting was funny. "It just is," he replied. I'm with the one with no belly button. The series' ultimate Time Lord, Russell T. Davies, should have controlled himself on this issue way back.
