[edit]

DR. WHO comes out of his 18-month "time warp" next month and transfers to the radio for his next adventure.

The doctor and his assistant Peri played by Nicola Bryant should have been recording for the next series of Dr. Who on television.

But the series-due to go out this autumn scrapped last year by BBC-1's new controller Mr. Michael Grade.

The decision caused an uproar and Mr. Bill Cotton, managing director of BBC Television, later gave a promise that Dr. Who would be back on the screen in autumn next year.

In the meantime the doctor played by Colin Baker and his assistant will be in a special story on Radio 4.

The adventure has been commissioned from one of the original scriptwriters, Eric Saward, and will go out in six 10-minute episodes. They will go out in Pirate Radio 4, a short series of live three hour programmes at the end of July aimed at the young audience during school holidays.
