The best in monsters and aliens, props and costumes from the British Broadcasting Company's "Dr. Who" will arrive by van in Beaufort for a visit Saturday and Sunday.
"Who-vians" will be able to see the best of "Dr. Who" costumes and books at Beaufort Plaza. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children, with proceeds being used to bring new episodes of "Dr Who" to the screen in South Carolina in May.
"We get a lot of calls about the science fiction series," said Mike Brannen, program director at WJWJ-ETV in Beaufort. "There is a large group of people who are fanatics about 'Dr. Who.'"
The series began more than 20 years ago with a meager four parts. William Hartnell was the original Dr. Who. He was replaced (through regeneration in the program) by Patrick Troughton who has been regenerated (and replaced) by Tom Baker, the longest running Dr. Who — seven years.
The Dr. Who van, sponsored by BBC, has been visiting areas in North Carolina and South Carolina as a way of saying "thank you" to Dr. Who fans in America.
