[edit]

TELEVISION'S third Dr Who, Jon Pertwee, is returning to the role he first played 20 years ago, this time on stage.

A multi-million-pound musical-laser spectacular will go into rehearsal at the end of the month before a short British tour. Then the plan is to take the Doctor either to London's West End or Australia.

And if the show goes Down Under, the cast will be boosted by TV Neighbours stars Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue. Veteran comedy actor Jon followed the late Patrick Troughton as Dr Who on BBC-TV. And the creator of the stage show is the man who wrote his scripts —Terence Dicks.

Jon is currently out of the country but a close friend and business associate said he was "very excited" about the project. "He turned down another part in a big West End musical to get back to being Dr Who," said the source.

The stage production will feature his old enemies the Daleks. It is due to open In Wimbledon at the end of next month.
