[edit]

DR WHO fans have the chance to step into the Tardis and whizz back 20 years to one of his greatest adventures.

THE classic DOCTOR WHO AND THE DALEKS (BBC1, 7.30pm) is being repeated for the first time to celebrate 30 years of the eccentric Time Lord's exotic wanderings.

PLANET of the Daleks finds the Doctor and his assistant Jo Grant - played by Jon Pertwee and Katy Manning - setting off in pursuit of the metal monsters who are involved with the Master in a plan to cause interplanetary war.

BUT the Doctor is taken ill and, by the time the Tardis lands on the remote planet Spiridon, falls into a deathlike coma.

IT is left to Jo to try and find help In the first episode of this six-parser.

THE Daleks, best loved of all the Doctor's many bizarre enemies, made their debut on the cult programme shortly after it began in 1963.

CREATOR Terry Nation made their flashing lights out of the indicators of an old Morris car and each one was worked by an actor sitting on a stool inside.

"IT'S like a bubble car on castors that you work with your feet," said 'regular' Dalek John Scott Martin.

JUST out of interest whatever did happen to Katy Manning?
