[edit]

Hollywood has caught on to Dr Who.

The long-running (never-ending?) tongue-in-cheek sci-fi show is almost taken for granted in Britain and Australia.

But Hollywood, which last heard the phrase Dr Who when a scriptwriter asked after Marcus Welby, has given the Tardis a spectacular reception.

The show, starring Tom Baker as the good doctor, is on most nights of the week and has built up a huge following.

And the ubiquitous Doctors' success has taken the networks by surprise.

Local moguls are reputed to be looking closely at the situation, and spin-offs are likely.

Knowing Hollywood's penchant for uninspired titles, will we be seeing Dr When? Or Dr What? Or even Dr in the House?
