[edit]

Dr Who's Tardis has materialised in the middle of a deserted shopping centre at the dead of night.

The time machine has been gathering dust at the BBC film studio for the past 15 years but appeared on set for the new series.

It is used by ninth Doctor Christopher Ecclestone and his sidekick Rose Tyler - popstar turned actress Billie Piper.

A passerby in Cardiff, Andy Baynon, 29, said: "I couldn't believe it. I was walking home from the pump when I saw the TARDIS on the pavement. I honestly thought I was seeing things."

The Tardis is meant to alter its appearance to fit in with its surroundings, but became stuck as a police box on a trip to Earth.
