FLORENCE — The Florence County Library will host a "Doctor Who" party Sept. 25 for all sixth- through 12th-graders from 2-4 p.m.
Attendees are invited to come in costume and make crafts, including sonic screwdrivers and Tardis memory boxes.
It's a great time for teenagers to hang out, get to know each other and have fun, said Julie Vaught, who has been the teen librarian at the Florence County Library for 10 years.
Vaught said she wanted to try something new for Florence teens. "I'd just seen some other libraries have parties and heard teens talking about," she said. "I thought it would be a fun thing to try and do."
She said the library has never had a "Doctor Who" specific party, but it does try to host various teen programs once a month.
Vaught hopes teens will be able to see that the library has a lot to offer beyond just the fun parties and programs.
"We want them to know that they have a safe, fun place available to them," she said. The party is a drop-in, she said, and while everyone is welcome to stay for the entire two hours, it's not required.
