I'll admit, keeping up with all the doctors can be confusing. But then you realize they're all the same person, just different faces, bodies and personalities. Oh my stars. If elementary school kids can follow along, so can you. The show revolves around zipping around with the Doctor and his companions, exploring different worlds, time periods and alternate universes in his TARDIS (it's bigger on the inside.) When I say Doctor Who incorporates all the favorite sci-fi themes, I'm not exaggerating. There's space adventure, aliens, dinosaurs, futuristic technology, time travel and the occasional monster. Doctor Who has made me terrified of stone statues and blinking, got me to tear up hearing the song of the Ood and redefined the coolness of bow ties. This show invented the feels. It's just silly enough for kids and serious enough for adults. Classic Doctor Who and Seasons1-7 are on Netflix. BBC America frequently reruns old episodes, including the 50th anniversary specials The Day of the Doctor and An Adventure in Time and Space, and Season 9 is set to air later this year (probably Christmas).

Caption: Matt Smith is just one of the many Doctors the show has seen. Doctor Who incorporates all the favorite sci-fi themes.
