MORE than 1,300 Belfast school children went delirious today, when a top secret visitor came to town.
He breezed through 40 classrooms. green floppy hat, long multi-coloured scarf, long brown coat and all.
It could only be Doctor Who of TV fame but five-year-old Sharon Graham wanted to know where was K-9 his bionic dog.
"It was raining when I left and K-9 can't come out in the rain," replied the doctor, as he took her on his knee and placed his floppy hat on her head.
Sharon is a primary two pupil at Mersey Street Primary School, the first school visited by Doctor. Who on his two-day visit to Belfast.
She said: "Doctor Who is my favourite show on telly. I'm sorry he's taking a break until September."
Doctor Who-actor Tom Baker is in Belfast visiting primary school children who form the majority of his 14 million TV audience.
The last series ended in early March and when it restarts in September, it will chalk up its 500th edition. Doctor Who will also visit children in Bolton and Bradford during the summer break.
After visiting Mersey Street Primary, Doctor Who continued his tour by going to St. Mary's Primary, Divis Street and Finaghy Primary.
Nine-year-old James Gault, a pupil in. Mr. Paddy McCombe's primary five class at St. Mary's said: "Doctor Who is a strange person and he goes to strange planets."
Later, Doctor Who visited patients in the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick-Children. Tomorrow's itinerary is a closely-guarded secret but 900 children somewhere in Belfast will meet their favourite TV star.
