Q. How about a few facts on Tom Baker, who plays "Dr. Who"? What has he done before? How old is he? Where can I write him?
A. Baker, 45, was born in Liverpool, England. He first thought he had a religious calling and spent six years as a brother of the Order of Ploermel. Next came two years in the army. After that, he launched his acting career. Baker piled up credits in the theater and television (a BBC production of "The Millionairess," with Maggie Smith, was seen in the United States) and made his movie debut as Rasputin in Sam Spiegel's Nicholas and Alexandra in 1971. He took over the role of the doctor in the British fantasy series in 1972. But he's no longer doing the show. A new "Dr. Who" went to work this summer.
