EXTERMINATE, exterminate!
Sci-fi cop Neil Murphy was at the mercy of British TV's most feared aliens in Liverpool city centre.
An army of Dr Who's arch-enemies, the Daleks, were out in force to terrify Mersey police and shoppers into handing over cash for a cot death charity.
The Daleks, famous for scaring young viewers during their hey-day in the 60s and 70s, were part of a police exhibition in Church Street aimed at raising money for the Foundation for the Study of Infant Death Syndrome.
Former Doctor Who Colin Baker, who lost a child to the syndrome, is the patron of the foundation.
One of the radio-controlled metallic models in the city belongs to PC Murphy who is a member of the local Dr Who fan club.
The Daleks can be programmed with their favourite phrases.
PC Murphy said: "They are great fun. You can chat with them by speaking though their special voice boxes."
A sci-fi fan, he appeared as an extra in the Godzilla film after stumbling on to the film set during a holiday in New York.
The fan club meets on the first Saturday of every month at the Jacaranda Club, Slater Street, from Ipm. Anyone wanting to join should ring Mike Hall on
