AT FIRST sight there appears to be no possible link between the new, decidedly eccentric, Dr Who and the suave and sophisticated new-look James Bond.
But nothing could be further from the truth - Sylvester McCoy, who this week took over occupation of the Tardis as the seventh doctor, has revealed that he and the fourth 007 have more in common than the fact that they are both taking over from illustrious and well loved predecessors.
Both Dalton and McCoy were appearing in the same London production of Antony and Cleopatra when they were spotted for their respective instant fame grabbing roles.
"One night Bond producer Cubby Broccoli arrived in the audience. We all knew he was there to sec Tim. Soon afterwards he was signed up to play 007 in The Living Daylights," said McCoy.
"A few months later I found myself in a simlar situation when Doctor Who producer John Nathan Turner came to see me. The next thing I knew I was the new Doctor Who. Timothy's proved himself as a great James Bond. Now it's up to me to do the same with Doctor Who."
