Showbiz gossip

Scottish actor Alan Cumming has been in talks with the BBC to be the new Doctor Who, Bella can exclusively reveal. Cumming, 36 — who's appeared in movies including Spy Kids, A Circle Of Friends and Goldeneye and provides the voice of the Devil in God, the Devil and Bob — has agreed to star in a new BBC film to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Time Lord. However, it's thought Alan wouldn't want to become too identified with the role, so he'll probably only star in this one-off feature film, which goes into production next year. The last actor to play the Doctor was Paul McGann in the 1996 TV movie. Others in the role have included Tom Baker, Peter Davidson, Sylvester McCoy and Jon Pertwee.
