[edit]

Gollancz is reissuing an anthology of celebrities' memories of Doctor Who to mark the 50th anniversary of the show, and raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK.

Behind the Sofa: Celebrity Memories of Doctor Who has the favourite Doctor Who memories of over 100 contributors-- including Jonathan Ross, Hugh Bonneville, Neil Gaiman, Charlie Brooker and Lynda Bellingham.

Editor Steve Berry self-funded and crowdsourced money to put the book together in 2009 in memory of his mother Janet, who suffered from Alzheimers, and raised around £20,000 for ARUK.

For the reissue, Berry has lined up new contributors including Ben Aaronovitch, Bernard Cribbins and Sophia Myles. One hundred per cent of Berry's royalties will again go to ARUK.

"The whole memory thing suggested itself because that's what Alzheimer's robs you of first," Berry said. "Each memory is unique to the person, which is an important message when it comes to raising money for Alzheimer's research--your memories make you the person you are."

The anniversary edition is published on 17th October as a £9.99 hardback.
