THEATRE BOSSES had to close a Dr Who exhibition in their upper circle bar after a Dalek was stolen, K-9 sat on and the Ice Warriors battered.
The display, to coincide with a touring production of Dr Who at Newcastle Theatre Royal, was mounted by local enthusiasts of the time-travelling hero but was called off when the antics of a minority of visitors threatened to exterminate it.
One fan withdrew his models and the Theatre Royal decided to close the rest of the display.
Theatre spokesman Chris Humble said: "There were a couple of incidents but the exhibitors, when they agreed to exhibit, had a letter from us saying that whilst it would be supervised most of the time, we could not guarantee security all the time."
A one-foot high Dalek was stolen and a full size version of the Doctor's robot dog. K-9, was cracked after youngsters sat on it.
