Comic Kay turns himself into a Dr Who monster

FUNNYMAN Peter Kay has landed an out-of-this-world role in Doctor Who as a slimy alien.

The comic is a huge fan of the sci-fi series and was gagging to take part.

So the Bolton-born Phoenix Nights star penned a begging letter to the show's writer Russell T Davies, 42.

And Russell was so keen that he created a larger-than-life part for Peter in an episode called Love and Monsters, being screened next month. The comic, 32, plays a normal-looking bloke called Victor Kennedy who changes into a monster called Abzorbaloff.

The alien keeps his strength up by absorbing human bodies into his scaly skin. Peter had to squeeze his chubby frame into a body suit to play the role, which required several hours in make-up. He told pals it was hot and tiring playing the part — but worth every painful minute.

One friend said: "He's a massive fan of Doctor Who. It was a dream come true for him to play an alien!'
