[edit]

SIR, — The sudden tragic death of Roger Delgado in a car accident in Turkey has deprived the profession, of an exceptionally talented actor, and his colleagues of one of the kindest of friends who never begrudged or envied others their success. He possessed a charm and courtesy which made his presence particularly noticeable and welcome in any company.

I am sure few members of the profession will not join in sending to his widow Kismet our sincerest sympathies on her terrible loss — and equally certain that many would wish to contribute towards a fund to assist her financially. May I through your columns ask my colleagues who are in a position to do so, to send a contribution to the Roger Delgado fund c/o the address below.

All letters will be acknowledged. Yours sincerely, ROBERT RIETTY, 40 Old Church Lane. London. NW9 STA
