LATE night science-fiction is a ratings winner on satellite —as UK Gold has discovered with this series.
A new adventure for the Doctor — The Talons of Weng Chiang starts tonight and it one of the weirdest.
Tom Baker is the Doctor in this series and plays him as a dotty, wide-eyed Bohemian in a floppy hat.
He is keen to show his sexy assistant Leela (Louise Jameson, a real Victorian music hall, so as well that he is a time traveller.
Future
But things go wrong and they end up fighting a war criminal from the future and a sinister Chinese bodysnatcher who lives in a sewer.
With little room than cardboard and glue, this classic series was famed for conjuring up monsters that could terrify. That is certainly the case with this six parter.
