VISITORS to Oxford Island near Lurgan yesterday could well have been forgiven for thinking they'd stumbled onto the set of Dr Who.
Spectators watched in amazement as a Tardis appeared on the shore and a giant Dalek hurtled across the water on a mission to exterminate The Doctor.
The time traveller, AKA Lurgan man Thomas Needham, had taken a leaf out of Christine Bleakley's book by waterskiing 20 miles across Lough Neagh from the Antrim Forum to Oxford Island.
Meanwhile his accomplice Denis Rush, also from Lurgan, had wake boarded.
"We really were inspired by Christine Blealdey, said Denis through chattering teeth.
"So we decided to give it a go. It was very tough going today out on Lough Neagh and we kept getting cramp, but hats off to Christine — water skiing across The English Channel is a pretty amazing feat!"
All the funds raised from yesterday's Dalek dash across the Lough will go to The Northern Ireland Children's Hospice.
