ACTRESS Sophie Aldred will soon be heading for the stars... as Dr Who's 19th girl assistant.
Sophie, who not only shares the same star sign but the same birthday as the latest Doctor, is to replace Bonnie Langford.
It had never been intended that Bonnie would do more than two series, BBC producer John Nathan-Turner said yesterday.
"We haven't decided quite what to do with her yet, but it won't be a nasty end."
Sophie, 24, will be making her TV debut as Dr Who Sylvester McCoy's new partner, to be called Ace.
Scared
She said : "I can't believe this is happening. It's a dream start in TV. " I used to watch the show when I was a kid. and Jon Pertwee played the Doctor.
"I was the typical scared child, peeping out from behind the sofa." Mr Nathan Turner said: "She will be more sett-reliant and independent —a real '80s teenager.
