DR Who fans can take a trip back in time when the Tardis visits the North in autumn.

The Tardis in Durham is an annual weekend convention held by Dr Who in Durham, a club for fans of the long-running televsion sci-fi adventure series.

Anthony Ainley, who plays the Master, will open the convention's 24-hour non-stop video room showing Dr Who episodes.

Mr Ainley was the last man to be with Patrick Troughton, the second Dr Who, when he died in America, and will share his memories of Mr Troughton with the visitors.

The convention wall be held at the Three Tuns Hotel, on Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20.

There will be a cabaret, charity auction in aid of local charities and memorabilia stalls.
