TV's top heroes and villains
THE Daleks from Dr Who have been voted the most evil telly villains ever.
The robots — catchphrase "Exterminate!"— struck terror into a generation of kids as they tried to kill the the Doctor.
Another top baddie was Robert Carlyle, named scariest killer for his portrayal of deranged Albie Kinsella in Cracker.
Dashing 19th Century soldier Major Richard Sharpe, played by Sean Bean, was top hero.
Folklore
Mr D'Arcy (actor Colin Firth) from Jane Austen's Pride And Prejudice was voted sexiest star.
The affair between Rachel Ward and Richard Chamberlain in 80s series The Thorn Birds was most sizzling romance.
And Cracker, starring Robbie Coltrane as a police shrink, was named best drama ever.
TV critic Neil Bonner, who drew up the short-lists, said: "The image of Colin Firth emerging from a pond in a dripping shirt has become part of TV folklore.
"And the fact Richard Chamberlain and Rachel Ward's affair beat modern rivals like Sean Bean and Joely Richardson in Lady Chatterley's Lover proves classic dramas stand the test of time."
