The TARDIS transports the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Ruby (Millie Gibson) to a village on the west coast of Wales in this week's episode, but don't go thinking they're in for a relaxing minibreak. As the duo pop into the local pub to escape the rain, the patrons are frightened of ancient legends coming to life, and local wise woman Enid Meadows (I Claudius star Dame Sian Phillips) warns them of 'the Spiteful One'. Showrunner Russell T. Davies has described this week's tale as a slice of 'Welsh folk horror' - and you don't get many of those at Saturday teatime on BBC1, do you? ★★★★ SP
