DOCTOR WHO
BBC/Warner
Series ★★★ DVDs ★★★
This eccentric BBC TV sci-fi series, which started in the 1960s and still continues through time, is being launched on DVD with three releases, each containing a four-episode story. Spearhead from Space is an apocalyptic tale of an invasion by aliens disguised as store mannequins. The Five Doctors brings together actors who have played Doctor Who over the years (supposedly his different manifestations) for one mind-bending adventure. The Robots of Death wasn't available at press time. Picture and sound aren't stupendous, but they never were. Both DVDs come with commentaries, The Five Doctors also with a separate track of the memorable electronica score. English, Dolby Digital 5.1; full frame (1.33:1); dual layer.
