Pearl Mackie has been named as the new Doctor Who companion to Peter Capaldi's time lord.
The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School graduate, who played Anne-Marie Frasier in daytime drama Doctors in 2014, takes over from Jenna Coleman as the Doctor's assistant
Talking about her new role, Mackie said: "I'm incredibly excited to be joining the Doctor Who family. It's such an extraordinary British institution, I couldn't be prouder to call the Tardis my home
Mackie, from Brixton, south London, is currently in the National Theatre's production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
