DR WHO is about to set off on an epic journey to Aberdeen, exactly 25 years since he first burst on to our TV screens. Tomorrow night be will step inside the familiar police box at Wimbledon, to re-appear at His Majesty's Theatre on Monday for the opening of spectacular stage version of his adventures.
The story tells how the Doctor is summoned by 10 Downing Street to help in a search of the universe for the kidnapper of the American Vice president in the course of the adventure the Daleks try their best to outwit their old enemy - -unsuccessfully, needless to try.
Jon Pertwee, probably the most famous Dr Who of all, may be 70 years old, but on a recent Wogan show he looked spry enough to be able to tackle a 10-week tour with ease.
To the younger generation he is best known, no doubt, as Worzel Gummidge but some of us still recall with delight his marvellous charactersations in Waterlogged Spa and The Navy Lark during the golden era of radio. I remember, too a brilliantly funny appearance at the Capitol Aberdeen, during summer variety season.
The Doctor's handsome assistant, Jason is played by an experienced West End actor Graeme Smith and starring in her first major role is Rebecca Thornhill, as Crystal, a beautiful pop star.
