SCI-FI FANATICS from South Tyneside are about to start shooting a video send-up of Star Trek and Dr Who.
Members of Marphi, which meets at the Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle, on every second Sunday of the month, are using their own video equipment to make the film, to be called Destinies Consumed.
Amanda Cable, 24, of Wilkinson Court, Jarrow, the chairman and founder of Marphi, explained that various locations will be used for the film, including Tynemouth Priory, Bamburgh, South Shields seafront and Kielder Forest.
She said: "The film is a spoof on Dr Who and Star Trek. There are four main characters in the film, but all of our members are involved."
Marphi, which has attracted almost 30 members since it started last November, is linking up with another sci-fi group USS Exeter, which also meets at the Tyneside Cinema, to produce the film.
Amanda added: "We hope to show the film at sci-fi conventions both here and abroad."
