Who's best yet

The Doctor Who story Frontios (26 January-3 February BBC1) was, in my opinion, one of the best Peter Davison stories screened, apart from such classics as Enlightenment and Earthshock. There was an atmosphere to it similar to Tom Baker's first three seasons. Camerawork, design and acting blended beautifully. The Tractators were brilliantly designed, ranking as one of the more interesting monsters of recent years.

Just one criticism the Federation helmets from Blake's Seven! Please keep Doctor Who as original and exciting as that ill-fated series wasn't!

Terrifying

I really must protest most strongly at the timing and content of Doctor Who. The last two episodes of Frontios were really not suitable viewing for children of any age, one scene showing a dead man driving a machine, and an; other showing a man being sucked under the ground while others looked on callously ignoring his cries for help.

But the first episode of Resurrection of the Daleks (8 February) really was the limit: the Daleks arrive, there is a battle and we are shown a close-up of a man with a horribly burned face! At 7.5 in the evening, a time when small children are not yet in bed, but sitting around the television with the family. My three-year-old daughter was terrified; we had to switch off immediately ...

No smoking, please

I'm writing to complain about the smoking in the first episode of Resurrection of the Daleks (a crew member of the space station and a soldier). There was no need for it in the story, and it would have been just as good without it. Surely the BBC should give a good example on a children's programme.
