[edit]

Peter Davison was probably best known for his portrayal of Tristan, the young veterinary surgeon in All Creatures Great and Small, airing now every Thursday evening. He was 30 years old when he first set foot in the TARDIS, making him the youngest Doctor Who in the series' history. Not a stranger to this unusual setting of Cybermen and Daleks, he first made the acquaintance of the Doctor 18 years earlier. As a young boy of 12, he tuned his television regularly each and every Saturday to catch the wonderings of the elusive Time Lord as he shuttled through Space and Time. And as befits a dedicated Doctor Who fan, he is able to analyze and dissect with intimate knowledge the characters of his four predecessors and thus give his Doctor a totally new and refreshing approach. It also worried him that there were some children who had only known Tom Baker as the Doctor and that there were certain responsibilities that went with the part. He realized that it was more than just an acting job. Doctor Who was a British institution. To this day, it still amazes Peter Davison how he went from playing everybody's favorite vet, to carry on the Doctor Who tradition. After all, how many actors can lay claim to playing an institution?.
