Doctor Who pays tribute to Eurovision


For the Eurovision scoring this year, Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa will be the UK's spokesperson - but that's not the only crossover between the two shows this Saturday.

Airing immediately before Eurovision, this week's Doctor Who episode, The Interstellar Song Contest, sees the Doctor and Belinda (Varada Sethu) arriving at the 803rd edition of an intergalactic pop competition, with guest star Rylan Clark playing himself as the host, and a special appearance from Graham Norton.

'Expect the unexpected - this is probably the most twisty episode of the whole season,' says Clark. 'I've always loved Doctor Who. When I got the script, I started crying - it was unreal!'

The story sees the contest interrupted by a devastating attack that throws the whole event into disarray, with House of the Dragon's Freddie Fox also guest-starring as Kid.

'Kid is a charismatic, devious, revolutionary leader of a group trying to get justice for wrongs,' says Fox. 'Audiences can expect to see the most audacious interpretation of Eurovision ever - it's going to blow their minds.'
