Sunshine and sweltering heat failed to bring out the crowds for the Kings of Wessex School fete on Saturday.
Attendances and takings were down compared to last year, although the fete sill made a profit of nearly £200 for PTA funds.
This will go to pay off the outstanding balance on the mini bus competitions which the PTA bought for the school recently.
The fete was opened by actor John Levene, who plays Sgt. Benton in the BBC's television series, Dr Who.
He was at the Webbington Country Club with Jon Pertwee (Dr. Who), and was surprised on Saturday morning when Mr. Alan Wells, the club's owner, suddenly taboo sprang on him the news that he would be opening a fete in the afternoon.
Mr. Levene has become known throughout the country as one of the doctor's allies in a number of fights against The Master and other enemies from outer space and time.
