[edit]

"SO THRILLING, you must be there!", announced the trailer for DR WHO AND THE DALEKS (Beyond Vision, 79 mins, cert U, £12.99). But anyone who watches the first big-screen Dr Who film, made in 1965, will find more laughs than thrills as Peter Cushing's bumbling Dr Who accidentally whisks - himself and his grand-daughters Barbara and Susan into a Dalek stronghold.

I don't know what made me laugh more: a young Roy Castle as Barbara's bungling boyfriend, or the sight of a Dalek guard trying to frisk Dr Who with one of his egg-beater antennae.
