The "Who" event of the year is coming to South Dakota in late July.

Doctor Who, the longest running science fiction show in television history, is seen on SDPTV on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m.

The Dr. Who Traveling Show will be in Rapid City at the Dahl Fine Arts Center Saturday and Sunday. July 25 and 26 from noon to 6 p.m. each day. The show will then travel to Sioux Falls where it will be appearing at the Western Mall on Thursday, July 30 from 3 to 9 p.m.

An "experience theater on wheels" is the event's focal point. A 48-foot-long exhibition trailer features the show's most famous monsters and villains with special effect animation, lighting and sound. Visitors enter the exhibit by walking through a TARDIS - the Doctor's time traveling craft forever locked into the shape of an old English police call box. They can see a mock-up of the ship's control panel before entering into an illusion of space within which the figures are displayed.

In addition to touring the mobile exhibition, those attending will have the opportunity to meet one of the stars of the show, who host question and answer sessions and autographs. Documentary-style videos about the series and tour will be shown, and a new range of Doctor Who collectibles will be available. Tickets for the Traveling Show are:' Adults - $6.00, Friends of SDPB - $5.00, and kids under five free.

A number of volunteers will be needed to assist with the Dr. Who Traveling Show. If you are able to lend a hand, contact the Friends office at 1-800-992-2077 (ask for Friends).
