[edit]

'Did you come in the Tardis?' one little fan asked Miss Jackie Lane, who stars as 'Dodo' in the B.B.C. television serial 'Dr. Who', when she opened the summer fair at Moot House on Saturday.

The Tardis is the time machine which transports Dr. Who and Dodo on their adventures. And had she used this form of travel to arrive at the fete, which she did promptly at 2.30, Miss Lane would certainly have twiddled the knobs and removed herself to another planet with a better climate just one hour later.

For it was then that the rain came down and stayed coming down for the rest of the afternoon. It ended all business at the stalls and sideshows and drove most of the adult visitors away to their homes and the 'telly' (where, incidentally, they later saw 'Dodo' on the screen in the latest 'Dr. Who' episode).

Caption: Autographs from 'Dodo' — Jackie Lane, of the Dr. Who television series — were much in demand from children who went to Mark Hall and Netteswell Community Association summer fair on Saturday.
