[edit]

EIGHT MILLION pairs of special spectacles went on sale today as the BBC launched its first 3-D television season.

The rose- and green-tinted glasses must be worn to see the special effects on programmes such as Dr Who, Blue Peter, Top Of The Pops and Nature Trail.

The season will run for a week, beginning on 26 November — the night of the Children In Need appeal.

Among the 3-D programmes are two mini-episodes of Dr Who, specially filmed to celebrate the programme's 30th year and featuring five of the famous doctors, plus stars from the cast of EastEnders. The glasses are on sale with 25p from the 99p price going towards Children In Need.
