[edit]

Colin Baker, the sixth Dr Who, was upset to find in January that the venerable police box which had done service as a time machine in the BBC's long-running series, was to be replaced. "A whole generation of young Dr. Who fans have never seen a genuine police box because there are none left", explained John Nathan-Turner, the producer, who tried to soften the blow by promising that the Doctor would travel through space and time in a uniquely horrible multicolored outfit. "I think we've achieved it," Nathan-Turner rejoiced. "I think the outfit for the new Doctor is totally tasteless."
