[edit]

I am the person who won Doctor Who Mastermind. Marino Steele (Letters, 2 April) suggests that I shouldn't have won as I only got 12 correct answers in the Doctor Who round.

The whole point of Mastermind is that you have to have a good knowledge of your specialist subject and answer general-knowledge questions. Why should this edition be different?

My audition featured me being asked general-knowledge questions in order, I presume, to ensure that the show didn't end up with a fan who knows about Doctor Who and nothing else!

Surely I'm not the first contestant to win on the strength of their general knowledge as well as their chosen subject? Perhaps Mr Steele would like to disqualify all contestants who have won in the same way?
