HE'S already worked his magic on the Olympics opening ceremony, Millions and 24 Hour Party People, and now it seems that acclaimed Liverpool writer Frank Cottrell Boyce is bringing the new Doctor Who to life.

Frank is working on a script for the upcoming series of Doctor Who, which will star Thick of It star Peter Capaldi.

"It's like joining a family," Frank told Insider's spy. "It's a great thing to be involved with.

"I grew up loving Doctor Who, and my teenage son was a big fan of it too. It's a pleasure to write it and I'm looking forward to seeing Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor.

"I'm hoping there's a bit of Malcolm Tucker in there too."

It isn't the first time Frank has worked with Doctor Who supremo Russell T Davies - they both worked on Granada drama Springhill in the mid-1990s.

Frank hasn't confirmed yet what the episode will involve - but there is talk that it may be a double episode featuring the Daleks...
