WHEN the new, long-awaited Dr Who hits our TV screens, let's hope Time Lord Christopher Eccleston is happy with his performance. In at least two of the actor's big-budget Hollywood films, he is embarrassingly awful. Who says so? The man himself.

"I was ashamed of my performance in Gone In 60 Seconds," reveals Eccleston, 41, who starred alongside Nicholas Cage and Angelina Jolie in the film, built on the slightly dubious plot-line of a master thief being forced to steal 50 cars in one night to save his brother's life.

"If anyone wants to say that I am a bad actor, they only have to play that film to confirm it. It was nobody's fault but my own. I had no common ground with it and my heart wasn't in it."

And will Eccleston —whose other films include 28 Days Later and Shallow Grave — reveal his other shameful performance? "I am not even prepared to name it because I was even worse in that one —probably the worst performance I have ever committed to celluloid."
