CHASE STAR'S NEW ROLE

Bradley 'over moon' at being Docs assistant

BRADLEY Walsh is to play the companion to Jodie Whit-taker's new Doctor Who.

The Chase quiz presenter, 57, will join the first female Doctor in the next series of the show.

Walsh is believed to have been hand picked by new show boss Chris Chibnall, who is a long-time friend.

A source told The Mirror: "Bradley's told pals he is over the moon to be joining the show in such an important role. It means his schedule will be jam-packed so he won't be able to continue with the full range of programmes he currently makes for ITV.

"But, crucially, it won't affect his role as presenter of The Chase. He loves that show with a passion, so he's delighted to have found a way to make it all work."

Bradley played Mike Baldwin's nephew Danny in Coronation Street for three years from 2004. Jodie, 35, was announced in July as the first female to play the Doctor. She said: "I'm beyond excited to begin this epic journey with Chris and with every Whovian."
