WPSX-TV is pleased to announce that beginning Monday, Oct. 15, THE MAC-NEIL/LEHRER NEWSHOUR will return to its 6 p.m. time period. WPSX-TV will continue the late night broadcast of THE NEWSHOUR which will move to 11:30 p.m.

We are pleased to be able to make this change in response to the many viewers who have requested a return to the early evening time period. With the 6 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. broadcasts, we hope to meet the viewing interests of as many people as possible.

As we have stated, THE MACNEIL/ LEHRER NEWSHOUR is the single most expensive program broadcast on WPSX-TV. The present cost for WPSX-TV is $41,000. With the large response from viewers, we are encouraged that sufficient viewer support for the program during upcoming Festival periods will enable WPSX-TV to continue this outstanding news program.

Because of the change back to 6 p.m. for THE NEWSHOUR, two other programming changes are necessary. The broadcast of DR. WHO will return to 11 p.m and WPSX-TV will reduce the number of programs broadcast as part of its Independent Learning service. We hope these changes will not inconvenience Channel 3 viewers.

We appreciate hearing from those viewers who preferred the early evening broadcast time for THE NEWSHOUR. We are pleased to be able to respond by returning the program to 6 p.m. We are looking forward to their continued interest and support.
