The life-size replica of Jon Pertwee, used as stand-in for his part in the title role during the classic 70s children's TV series, was stolen at some time just before last orders on Tuesday evening. "Someone only noticed that it had been stolen first thing on Wednesday morning, " said 27-year old landlord Brian Corrin of the love able scarecrow that used to stand by the entrance to the popular pub in Dale Street. "He was much loved and we would like him back." Brian's father Jim bought the replica at Camden Market as a 25th wedding anniversary present for wife Barbara and donated it to his son when he took over the pub two years ago. Since then he has become a much-loved fixture among the Ship's regulars who are up in arms that the 6ft 3 ins look alike has gone AWOL. Now Brian and his father Jim have offered a £1,000 reward for Worzel's safe return, money which will be donated either to the tsunami appeal or to the children of Chernobyl.
