DR WHO bosses were given the Royal cold-shoulder when they tried to hire Windsor Castle.

They wanted to celebrate the TV series' 25th anniversary in style but were told: "Sorry, one can only use the castle for documentaries."

Instead Arundel Castle in West Sussex was used as a backdrop for the three-part adventure. And a Queen lookalike and four corgis joined the cast to make it look as though the location was Windsor.

Buckingham Palace said last night "We just didn't want a load of actors running around Windsor."

PRINCE Edward delivered a second Royal snub when he turned down an offer to appear in one of the episodes.
