A SCI-FI superfan's fascination with Doctor Who is far from being exterminated.

In fact, one room in David Howe's home is dedicated to his vast collection of Daleks, Cybermen, aliens and otherworldly monsters.

The 52-year-old owns memorabilia dating as far back as the 1960s when the cult series first hit the airwaves.

Now items from his cornucopia will be used as part of an exhibition at the National Media Museum in Bradford, after David was selected as one of four superfans from around Britain.

Doctor Who and Me: 50 Years of Doctor Who Fans coincides with the 50th anniversary episode airing tonight. David, a Doctor Who researcher and author, said: "I was in my early teens when I started watching Doctor Who, and I loved it.

"In the mid 1970s, I began collecting memorabilia. Ever since then my haul has grown very large to include toys, magazines, CDs, chocolates and original set pieces and costumes."

David, from Prestatyn, added: "I have one room in the house which is full to the brim with my stuff as well as my prize possession - a pin ball machine - which is in the garage.

"I find the Doctor Who series very interesting, especially the creative elements and visual effects, and I have researched it quite a lot and written 30 books about the show."

He added: "The museum contacted me and asked me if I'd like to be involved in the exhibition and I was more than happy to help. I've lent them some dolls that were released in the 70s period along with some old books and games. There's also a video of me talking, which will be played on a loop."

Speaking about the show's evolution over the years, David said: "I think the show is as fantastic today - it's the best thing on television and it never fails to entertain.

"I was overjoyed at the recent discovery of some old missing episodes from the 60s, which take me right back to my childhood." ? The exhibition runs from today to February 9 2014. For more information about David's books visit www.telos.co.uk.
