A YOXALL youngster hit the right note when she entered a national art competition.

Now Christmas is on the cards early for 11-year-old Joanne Bernard who will meet former Dr. Who Colin Baker on Tuesday.

Joanne, of Church Fields, beat off thousands of other entrants to take third prize in a competition to design a Christmas card.

Her picture of a singing robin in Winter boots will now be used as a design for a special set of charity cards featuring the winning pictures this Christmas.

Joanne entered the competition organised by W. H. Smith's through her school, and beat 10,500 other entrants.

She has won a keyboard and £l5 worth of W. H. Smith's vouchers for herself plus a computer, a camera and £30 of vouchers for St. Peter's primary school in Yoxall.

She will be presented with her prizes by Colin Baker at a special lunch in London on Tuesday and her picture will form part of an exhibition at Sotherby's later this year.
