DAVID BOWIE tops the list of preferred potential Dr Who guest stars for the current Timelord, alternative 1970s music fan Peter Capaldi.

At a preview screening of the latest series in Cardiff, Peter, 57, enthused: "David Bowie, he would be a very good one or Keith Richards — stumbling around the Tardis, knocking out a few chords."

Peter was lead singer in Glasgow punk band Dreamboys at art school. "The punk explosion started when I was about 18 so I love new wave music and rock'n'roll."

Bowie of course would be ideal casting — having played an alien in 1976 film The Man Who Fell To Earth and with hits including Loving The Alien and Space Oddity. Ground Control to Doctor Who casting directors....
