[edit]

The story about burglary victim Paul Kohler's bid to stop police station closures (Metro, Thu) prompts me to ask why we lost blue police boxes, which used to be dotted around the capital. Now they could be mobile and have all mod cons, including computers and compact toilet and refreshment facilities, and be planted in the heart of whichever beats justify their presence. Our new home secretary, Sajid Javid, could really make a name for himself by bringing back the 'Tardis', to which officers could travel from home, obviating time currently wasted going via parent stations.
