IF we can't have the Daleks, the Cybermen will do.

My second-favourite villains in the 25-year history of Doctor Who arrived, hissing and creaking, in a space ship which touched down on the Windsor bypass.

Silver Nemesis is the usual timeless twaddle. A large rock bun falls to earth with Something Nasty embedded inside. An Elizabethan lady and her manservant are whisked into the 1980s.

And Anton Diffring, foaming away at the mouth as only he knows how, is plotting the triumph of The Fourth Reich.

"This may qualify as the worst misjudgment since life crawled out of the sea!" squeaked Sylvester McCoy, as the diddy Doctor.

I think he'd just signed a contract for another series.
